
Muscat: The Ministry of Labour on Monday organised the 4th Forum on Institutional Innovation and Change Management.
Held in Muscat, the forum included the closing ceremony of the 3rd edition of the “National System for Institutional Innovation and Change Management”, which seeks to develop government performance and enhance the quality of services in the State’s Administrative Apparatus.
The ceremony was held under the auspices of Sayyid Salim Musallam Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Human Resources Development.
The 3rd edition of the “National System for Institutional Innovation and Change Management” included two OQ Group practices, namely “Corporate Culture” and “Continuous Improvement Practice”, in addition to a paper titled “Empowerment Strategy in Intellectual Capital Management.”
The forum reviewed a project themed “Governance of Change Management in the Government Sector”.
The project, which saw the participation of 10 government departments, was a strategic initiative that aimed to establish a sustainable framework for governance of change management in the public sector.
Mohammed Mubarak Al Kalbani, Director General of Development and Quality Assurance at the Ministry of Labour, said, “The forum marks the culmination of a stage of action that stems from Oman Vision 2040 whose core mission is to promote institutional innovation in government units and build an institutional framework for partnership and change management.”
Al Kalbani added that the “National System for Institutional Innovation and Change Management” provided training for more than 95 cadres from the State’s Administrative Apparatus.
The activities of the forum also included a visual presentation that showcased the achievements made during the 3rd edition of the “National System for Institutional Innovation and Change Management” and its implementation in government units.
The outcomes of the implementation of the system ranged from “Spreading awareness about administrative practices” to “Fostering knowledge empowerment” and “Consolidating communication and integration among government units in a manner that keeps pace with the latest trends and modern administrative approaches”.
As part of the forum, the Ministry of Labour signed three memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Al Shawamikh Oil Services Company, Weatherford Oil Equipment Middle East and Oman Film Society.
The MoUs covered areas of specialized training and cooperation with civil society institutions.
