Madhumanti Bagchi arrives, set to mesmerise Muscat tonight at Sheraton Oman Hotel

MUSCAT: It’s finally here — the night Oman’s music lovers have been waiting for. The Sheraton Oman Hotel is set to come alive this evening (Friday) as India’s award-winning playback singer Madhumanti Bagchi takes the stage for her debut performance in the Sultanate of Oman.

Arriving in Muscat on Thursday evening along with her troupe, the celebrated “Aaj Ki Raat” singer radiated excitement as she spoke to the media about her much-anticipated concert.

Fresh from a whirlwind nine-leg tour of the United States, Madhumanti said she was looking forward to creating a memorable evening for her fans in Oman.

“This is going to be my debut performance here, and I hope to make it a memorable one,” she said with a smile. “I’m really looking forward to a lovely evening on Friday.”

A winner of both the Filmfare Award and Zee Cine Award 2025 for Best Playback Singer (Female), Madhumanti is bringing to Muscat an exclusive musical experience — including a few unreleased tracks that will be performed live for the first time.

“I love testing new material with a live audience — it’s the most honest way to see how a song connects,” she told Times of Oman recently.

“The setlist is a mix of my most loved songs and some personal favourites that translate beautifully live. For the Bengali-speaking audience, there’s also a small surprise in store — a song very close to my heart.”

Known for her dynamic range spanning classical, fusion, and contemporary film music, Madhumanti described her concert setup as “minimal yet immersive”, combining acoustic warmth with live percussion and synth elements. “It’s a very soulful setup,” she said. “Every concert is a chance to tell a slightly new story.”

Though she confirmed there won’t be local collaborations during this show, she expressed strong interest in connecting with Omani musicians after the event.

“There’s so much incredible talent in this region,” she said. “It would be amazing to explore collaborations once I’ve had a chance to experience the local music scene.”

The Kolkata-born artist, whose career has seamlessly bridged Tollywood and Bollywood, said she is thrilled to be performing before an audience known for its appreciation of melody and emotion.

“The love from Oman has been overwhelming,” she said. “It already feels like a home concert even before stepping on stage. Muscat has such a rich cultural and musical history — performing here feels like opening a new chapter in my artistic journey.”

A day-long celebration of music and dance

The day’s festivities will begin in the morning with the Middle East Dance Competition at the Sheraton Oman ballroom, featuring over 250 dancers in a vibrant display of rhythm and energy.

Later in the evening, the spotlight will turn to Madhumanti’s much-awaited live concert, beginning at 8 pm, where audiences can expect a medley of her biggest hits along with fresh, unreleased pieces.

The evening will also feature Omani singer Nadeem Al Balushi, adding a local flavour to the cross-cultural celebration. And when the live performances wrap up, the night will continue to pulse with energy as DJ Pri (Priyanka) takes over for an electrifying after-party set.

G. V. Srinivas, the Indian Ambassador to Oman, will grace the event as the Guest of Honour, joining a large gathering of distinguished guests, dignitaries, and music lovers from across the Sultanate.

Organised by Nexus Novel in association with Kings United Dance Academy, the event is supported by Travel Point (Travel Partner), Sheraton Oman Hotel (Hospitality and Ticketing Partner), and Ultimate AV Production (AV Partner).

Other sponsors include OmPay, Unimoni, Gulf Exchange, Global Pay, Guide Me, Kriti (India), Ripples, GPT, Aster Royal Al Raffah Hospital, and Times of Oman.

With all arrangements in place, Muscat’s music fans are in for a treat tonight — a celebration of melody, emotion, and rhythm as Madhumanti Bagchi’s soulful voice fills the Sheraton Oman with an unforgettable evening of sound and sentiment.
