Muscat: The crew of the Eternity C ship, which had been targeted by the Yemeni Armed Forces for allegedly violating maritime restrictions, has been released through Omani mediation.

The Yemeni authorities transferred the crew from the capital, Sana’a, to Muscat on Wednesday, following successful diplomatic efforts led by the Sultanate of Oman.

The vessel had come under attack by a specialised Yemeni naval unit using drones and explosive-laden boats, sustaining severe damage before eventually sinking.

Indian Ambassador to Oman, G. V. Srinivas, expressed his country’s gratitude to the Sultanate of Oman for its tireless efforts that ensured the release of the Indian national among the crew, following coordination with multiple parties.

Hans Leo Cacdac, Minister of Labor of the Philippines, also conveyed his government’s appreciation to Oman for facilitating the release of the Filipino crew members, paving the way for their safe return to their homeland and families.
