Muscat: As Ramadan approaches, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry is preparing to host three special evenings designed not just for discussion, but for shaping the future of Oman’s economy.
Framed as interconnected sessions, the Ramadan evenings aim to bring together policymakers, business leaders, and investors under one roof to explore the next phase of economic transformation in the Sultanate.
The first gathering, set to take place in Muscat on Monday, will focus on “The Future of the Real Estate Sector and Sustainable Cities.” The session comes at a time when new real estate development legislation is redefining market regulation, consumer protection, and investment attractiveness. Discussions will spotlight the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning’s drive toward integrated, smart cities and sustainable urban growth. Participants are expected to examine the sector’s current performance, identify opportunities to attract foreign direct investment, address challenges facing developers, and propose practical, implementable solutions.
On March 2, attention will shift to “Priorities of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan.” The evening will explore how the national plan aligns with the ambitions of Oman Vision 2040, particularly in accelerating economic diversification, strengthening the business environment, advancing value-added industries, promoting sustainable tourism, and embracing digital transformation.
The third evening, scheduled for mid-March, will examine “Economic Diplomacy and its Role in Supporting the National Economy.” The session will highlight how diplomatic efforts extend beyond politics into trade, investment, and strategic partnerships. Discussions will cover the role of Omani missions abroad in promoting investment opportunities and national exports, the importance of bilateral and multilateral trade agreements, and ways to enhance the competitiveness of Omani products in global markets. The Chamber’s role as a bridge between the domestic private sector and international counterparts will also be underscored.
His Excellency Faisal Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber, said the initiative seeks to create shared visions between the public and private sectors. He stressed that this year’s themes were carefully selected to reflect the structural shifts underway in the Omani economy — whether in sectoral development, planning frameworks, or Oman’s expanding role within the global economic system.
Through these Ramadan evenings, the Chamber aims to deepen economic awareness, provide a balanced reading of opportunities and challenges, and channel national energies toward innovation and productive investment — reinforcing private sector competitiveness and supporting sustainable economic growth.
