Washington: X has dramatically reduced daily posting limits and imposed new, strict technical restrictions on free and unverified accounts, the platform announced.
Unsubscribed users can now post only 50 messages per day, with a maximum of 200 replies — a sharp drop from the previous limit of 2,400 posts per day.
The sudden change, introduced through an update to the platform’s official support page, is aimed at easing technical pressure on servers and combating automated and fake accounts.
The new policy is strictly enforced across all devices, forcing users who exceed the limits to stop interacting unless they subscribe to paid X Premium packages.
The restrictions also cap replies and comments at 200 per day, limit direct messages to 500 per day, allow only 400 new follows daily, and restrict use of the Grok AI assistant to just 10 messages every two hours.
