CBO issues commemorative coin celebrating FIFA World Cup 2026

Muscat: The Central Bank of Oman (CBO), in cooperation with the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), has announced the issuance of a silver commemorative coin to celebrate the FIFA World Cup 2026™, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

The bank stated that the coin has been designed according to the highest technical standards and minted from 99.9% pure silver (0.999 fineness). It carries a face value of one Omani Rial, with a diameter of 38.61 mm and a weight of 28.28 grams.

The Central Bank noted that a total of 5,000 commemorative coins have been minted for the occasion. Of these, 1,000 coins have been allocated for sale in the local market, while the remaining 4,000 coins will be offered in international markets through sales companies authorized by FIFA.

The CBO affirmed that the commemorative coin is legal tender at its face value and will be available for purchase starting June 30, 2026, through its branches in Ruwi, Salalah, and Sohar, as well as through the Oman Post sales outlet at Opera Galleria.

The coin will be sold at a starting price of RO 73 per coin, with the final price subject to change in line with fluctuations in global silver prices.
