Muscat: Acting in cooperation with the State Financial and Administrative Audit Authority, the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) is organising the first awareness forum on institutional integrity.
The two-day event, which began on Sunday, aims to familiarise participants with legislation and regulations related to the protection of public funds.
The forum elaborates on ways to support institutional practices that contribute to upgrading the efficiency of performance, the better use of resources, the avoidance of conflict of interest and integration between the State Financial and Administrative Audit Authority and internal audit units, in addition to the establishment of a work environment based on responsibility, commitment and institutional discipline—in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
The first day of the forum included working papers on the role of transparency in protecting public funds, job rights and responsibilities and an analysis of the “Law on Protecting Public Funds and Avoidance of Conflict of Interest”.
Tomorrow (30 August), more working papers will focus on integration between the State Financial and Administrative Audit Authority and internal audit units and procedures of filing complaints and reports.
Through this forum, Madayn seeks to raise public awareness about the role of transparency in boosting integrity and enhancing accountability and protecting public funds, in addition to other institutional practices.
