Muscat: The Unified Admission Centre at the Ministry of Education will open registration on Sunday, October 18, for the second admission round for the 2026/2027 academic year, offering 2,894 newly created and vacant study seats at higher education institutions in Oman and abroad.
Registration will remain open until Saturday, October 24, giving eligible students another opportunity to compete for places that remained vacant after the first selection.
The centre said the vacancies arose because some programmes did not receive enough eligible applicants or because students offered places did not complete the registration procedures.
The available seats cover programmes at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman College of Health Sciences, the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, vocational colleges, and internal and external scholarship and grant programmes.
The centre has published a supplement to the Student Guide for the 2026/2027 academic year on its website and social media platforms, detailing available programmes and their admission requirements.
Among the key developments in this round is the introduction of engineering scholarships for students enrolled in vocational and technical programmes at vocational colleges, expanding opportunities for them to pursue higher education in engineering.
The second selection is open to Omani students who obtained a General Education Diploma or equivalent qualification in the 2025/2026 academic year and who have not previously registered in the Unified Admission System, did not secure a place in the first selection, received an offer but failed to complete registration, or withdrew from an educational institution after registering. Students studying at their own expense may also apply, subject to the approved conditions.
Students who have secured a study place and completed registration procedures are not eligible to compete in this round.
Applicants holding equivalent or international qualifications must upload copies of their academic transcripts, personal cards and qualification equivalency certificates issued by the Ministry of Education through their registration pages, in accordance with the prescribed procedures.
Students can check the programmes for which they qualify through the “Enter and View Programs” screen on the Unified Admission System.
The centre stressed that applicants must re-enter all programmes they wish to compete for, as choices submitted during previous registration stages will not automatically carry over to the second round.
For programmes at Sultan Qaboos University, external scholarships and grants, health specialisations and specified educational specialisations, applicants must have a competitive average equal to or higher than the lowest competitive average accepted for the programme in the first selection, in addition to meeting all other admission requirements.
Admission tests and personal interviews for programmes that require them will take place from October 28 to November 1, 2026. The results of the second admission round are scheduled to be announced on the evening of November 3.
The centre urged eligible students to review the Student Guide supplement, check programme requirements and adhere to the registration deadlines and admission procedures to ensure their applications are completed correctly.
