ABRAJ Energy Services Signs Five-Year PDO Contract to Deploy Nine Workover Hoists, Including Six New-Build Units

ABRAJ Energy Services, Oman’s leading integrated energy services provider, has signed a five-year contract with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) to provide nine workover hoists—three existing units and six new-build units—for well intervention and workover operations across PDO’s operating areas in North and South Oman.
The agreement expands ABRAJ’s workover capacity and strengthens its service portfolio by combining existing assets with new equipment. The nine hoists will support PDO’s operational requirements for well intervention and workover activities, with services delivered in line with applicable HSE and operating requirements.
The units are expected to enter service in phases between the fourth quarter of 2027 and the third quarter of 2028. ABRAJ will mobilize the new-build hoists progressively in line with PDO’s commissioning and operational-readiness requirements.
The contract further strengthens ABRAJ’s position as a national energy services provider and expands its ability to support PDO’s upstream operations through well intervention and workover services. ABRAJ will draw on its operating teams, equipment and established service-management systems to deliver the contracted scope safely and reliably.

Saif Al Hamhami, Chief Executive Officer of ABRAJ Energy Services, said: “This contract marks another milestone in our longstanding strategic partnership with Petroleum Development Oman and reflects continued confidence in ABRAJ’s operational capabilities and proven execution. The addition of six new-build workover hoists demonstrates our commitment to investing in equipment and technical capabilities that enhance operational safety, reliability and efficiency. As we expand our service portfolio, we remain focused on developing national expertise, advancing operational excellence and supporting the long-term development of Oman’s energy sector.”

Dr. Aflah Al Hadhrami, Managing Director of Petroleum Development Oman, said: “We are committed to strengthening the capabilities of Omani companies and advancing local content to support the growth and competitiveness of Oman’s energy sector. This partnership reinforces that commitment while supporting our plans to increase production and enhance operational efficiency, in line with the priorities of our Journey of Transformation and our ambition to create sustainable value for Oman.”

The agreement builds on ABRAJ’s longstanding partnership with PDO across drilling and well services. In 2026, ABRAJ strengthened this relationship through contracts covering the redeployment of four existing onshore drilling rigs in Block 6 and a five-year integrated hydraulic fracturing services contract. The new workover contract further broadens ABRAJ’s contribution to PDO’s upstream operations in Oman.
