Muscat: Oman resident Shaandar Bukhari has earned global acclaim after being shortlisted as one of the top five finalists worldwide for the prestigious Good Samaritan Award at the upcoming World Police Summit (WPS) Awards 2026.
The nomination marks a standout achievement from the Sultanate on the international stage, emerging from a pool of over 700 contenders representing more than 60 nationalities across 13 specialised award categories.
The World Police Summit Awards, organised under the patronage of Dubai Police, honor global frontliners, civic pioneers, and public safety leaders. An independent international jury selected Bukhari as the second-listed nominee on the global shortlist, where he contends alongside distinguished humanitarian and civic figures from Germany, India, and Italy.
The Good Samaritan category is dedicated to recognizing community members whose swift action, volunteerism, and dedication to public welfare safeguard vulnerable individuals and communities during critical moments.
Expressing his gratitude following the announcement, Bukhari credited the community values fostered in the Sultanate:
"To be shortlisted among more than 700 nominations from over 60 countries across the globe is a true honor. Getting to this stage alongside distinguished individuals and organisations worldwide is a major milestone in itself."
"I extend my sincere appreciation to the Dubai Police for hosting and championing this transformative global initiative, which shines a spotlight on community service, safety, and humanitarian action. I wish all my fellow shortlisted nominees the very best. No matter the final outcome, this recognition reflects the culture of empathy, service, and civic responsibility we strive to practice every day here in the Sultanate of Oman."
The final winners will be announced at the World Police Summit Awards Gala on November 18, 2026, at the Dubai World Trade Centre. https://worldpolicesummit.com/
