Muscat: A land usufruct agreement for the land of the Institute of Public Administration (IPA) was signed by Sheikh Khalid bin Omar Al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service and Chairman of the Institute and Sheikh Abdullah bin Humaid Al Maamari , Chairman of Muscat National Development and Investment Company (Asaas) yesterday.
The usufruct agreement includes the construction of a new building for IPA as per world-class standards, a 280-room hotel and an investment building for the Institute without any additional cost to the government.
The agreement comes within the efforts made to enhance partnership between public and private sectors, upgrade the level of services rendered to the society and move towards real public and private partnership.
The Minister of Civil Service and Chairman of the IPA said that the contract is an impressive leap in the march of the Institute and comes within the government efforts to enhance partnership between public and private sectors. It includes developing the area near IPA building to provide an attractive education milieu for those taking part in and those cooperating with Institute activities.
On his part, Sayyid Zaki bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Chairman of IPA said that the term of the land usufruct agreement is 50 years plus three years for the construction period.
He pointed out that the project includes a new building for IPA , a small business area and a hotel.
The new building will enhance IPA’s capacity to 20,000 trainees per year. The green spaces and entertainment facilities at the site will provide attractive environment for participants at IPA’s activities.
Sayyid Zaki said that the services of the new building will be available for public and private organisations.
Intercity Hotel will be managed by Steigenberger Hotels. The project includes entertainment, business facilities , service and training centers and new offices.
The buildings will be provided with modern technologies and equipment, which will make the training and work environment more attractive.
