Oman Health: Car fire girl improving but can’t go home yet

Muscat: Ghazal, the four-year-old miracle girl who suffered 75 per cent burns in a car fire in Sur, has just successfully undergone a fourth skin graft operation, according to her father.
Ghazal’s father Mohammed Suleiman said that she won’t be discharged from the hospital as she still needs to undergo natural therapies and treatment before going back home.
The child suffered third degree burns a few months ago in Sur, along with her brother Suleiman, when the siblings were alone in a car in a petrol station where they decided to play with a lighter. A bottle of fuel had been stored inside the car. Suleiman recovered from his burns quickly and was discharged while doctors reported that Ghazal would only have a 10 per cent chance to live due to the severity of her injuries. But she beat the odds and is now in stable condition and almost ready to go home.
“She is stable and everything is fine. The last surgery they (surgeons) did was last week and we are just waiting for them to unwrap her bandages,” said Mohammad, the children’s father.
Ghazal had to go through four skin grafting surgeries as over 75 per cent of her body was burned.
When asked whether she will be discharged anytime soon, he responded, “The doctors didn’t say anything and we don’t know when she will be discharged; there isn’t a possibility for her to be discharged next week.”
“She still needs to undergo natural treatments like physiotherapy because she has been in bed for two months,” he added.
