Muscat: A battling Fatma Al Nabhani settled for runners-up place in the singles competition of the $10,000 Rabat ITF Pro Circuit tournament in Morocco on Saturday.
In the summit clash, the second-seeded Omani gave her all against top seed Georgina Garcia-Perez but failed to stop the Spanish girl from taking the title.
Fatma, despite losing the first at the 6-3, came back strongly to win the second and take the match into the third set.
But at the end Georgina proved too good in the deciding set and won the match with a final scoreline of 6-3, 2-6, 6-1.
Fatma had to settle for second runners-up place in as many days after losing the final of the doubles.
On Friday, Fatma and her Spanish partner Olga Parres Azcoitia were beaten 6-3, 1-6 (10-5) by Romania’s Cristina Adamescu and Daian Negreanu.
Fatma was taking part in the third consecutive tournament in Morocco after having played similar $10,000 ITF Pro Circuit Tournaments in Casablanca.
Fatma will now stay back in Moroccoa to take part in the Arab Tennis Championships.
