London: Assigned by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Sa’eedi, Minister of Legal Affairs, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman Charitable Authority (OCO), chaired the Sultanate’s delegation at the 4th Syrian Donors Conference in London on Thursday.
Kuwait, the UK, Germany, Norway and the United Nations co-chaired the conference, which was held under the title of Supporting Syria and the Region.
It was attended by Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the United Nations, David Cameron, British Prime Minister, Angela Merkel, German Chancellor, John Kerry, US Secretary of State and Mohammed Javad Zarif, Foreign Minister of Iran, along with leaders and officials from more than 70 countries.
The Minister of Legal Affairs delivered the Sultanate’s speech during which he pointed out that the Sultanate took part in the previous three international conferences in support of the humanitarian situation in Syria.
The Sultanate carried out during the past years a still-going programme to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian refugees by providing cash and in-kind assistance to the needy and the provision of mobile homes in the camps, through OCO, in coordination with relevant international organizations. He noted that the allocations of the programme exceeded so far $50 million.
