Muscat: Eleven-year-old Fahad Ahmed, a student of Indian School Wadi Kabir, has won a car in Muscat Media Group’s ‘I Love the Sultan’ campaign.
The excited young boy has been dancing with joy ever since he learnt of the prize. “I am so happy for this initiative taken by the Times of Oman newspaper and the Muscat Media Group and I am thankful for this brilliant opportunity to participate in the campaign,” a thrilled Fahad said.
Fahad learnt of the campaign from his school, the Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir, which was one of the participating schools in the nationwide campaign and stood at second place with the second highest registrations at 7,794.
Fahad’s six-member family is from Hyderabad in India he has been living with them in Oman for the last nine years. They are proud of him, “we don’t have any words to express our feelings of joy. We are very proud of Fahad.”
Although he was confident of winning an iPad mini, he did not imagine of winning a car.
Student of class 6-F at the ISWK, Fahad is thankful to the school, principal and teachers for encouraging him to participate in this campaign.
Of the 80,000 names registered, 65 per cent of them were males, while 35 per cent were female. More than 70 per cent of the participants are residents of Muscat, and the majority of respondents are between the ages of 26 and 35.
More than five different nationalities participated in the campaign, including citizens from Pakistan, Philippines and Bangladesh.
“I love The Sultan” campaign was started by the Muscat Media Group to celebrate the 46th National Day with a poster carrying names of everyone who registered.
Everyone who registered also entered into the biggest-ever prize draw from Muscat Media Group (MMG) with OMR25,000 of prizes.
Prizes included a brand new Nissan Xtrail, diamonds, several iPhone7s, a luxury family holiday thanks to the major sponsorship partners, including Suhail Bahwan automobile, Malabar Gold & Diamonds and Sheraton Oman hotel. Winners will be awarded in a grand ceremony soon.
The portrait was published on National Day in the Times of Oman and Al Shabiba newspapers, their social media platforms and websites.
