Muscat: Tanfeedh has proposed a mechanism to collect tolls on motorways where slower, alternative roads can be used.
“Collection will be done via the latest technology without having to resort to deploying toll cabins on the roads,” Tanfeedh’s proposal says.
“In order to enable this approach roads will be appropriately valued, tendered for investment purposes and then built by private sector,” Tanfeedh adds in its proposal.
According to Tanfeedh, the higher category tolls will be levied on commercial trucks and vehicles and the lowest category levied on personal cars and vehicles.
Tanfeedh has unveiled 121 proposals to the public as the results of a series of “labs” where public and private sector bosses cut through the red tape of Oman to create a road map for the Sultanate’s future.
