Muscat: State Council Chairman Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri expressed his deepest congratulations and gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said on the occasion of granting him the International Arab Rights Award for 2016 by the Arab-European Centre of Human Rights and International Law (AECHRIL).
He also praised the process for organising the municipal elections for the second term, which was conducted earlier this week.
The proposal was submitted by the Culture, Media and Tourism Committee, taking into account observations of the honourable members and the formation of a drafting technical committee to incorporate their remarks.
Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al Meshaikhi, Head of the Culture, Media and Tourism Committee said that the study aims at reaching results and recommendations to serve the tourism sector by reviewing the status of the sector and to consider the governing laws and regulations of the tourism sector, as well as addressing the challenges and obstacles that hinder the advancement of this sector and to activate its role in the national economy.
The agenda of the meeting included reviewing several topics that included a report on procedural session to elect a Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Arab Parliament where the Sultanate was elected as Deputy Chairman of the Arab Parliament.
The State Council yesterday approved at its third regular session of the 2nd annual sitting of the 6th term, under the chair of the Chairman of the State Council, the proposal “Reality of Tourism in the Sultanate”.
