Alleged arsonist held in Sohar

Muscat: An Omani national who set a vehicle ablaze was apprehended by the Department of Inquiries and Investigations in Sohar.
An official at the ROP said, “We received a report from a local in Sohar about his vehicle being on fire in front of his home. Security authorities scrambled to the area to put out the blaze and after inquiries and investigations we were able to identify and arrest the suspect.”
“He confessed his crime. He broke the back window of the car and poured gasoline; after lighting it up he fled the scene,” explained the official.
The suspect has been referred to the public prosecution pending further investigations.
