Muscat: A two-day discussion seminar on the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS 2015) will be opened at the Ministry of Education on Wednesday.
The seminar will be held under the patronage of Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shibaniyah, Minister of Education. It aims to discuss the TIMSS 2015 at the international, regional and governorate levels. It also aims to discuss the factors influencing the level of student performance, lessons learned from the TIMSS 2015 results, and how they should be used to develop the educational process.
The seminar will host the chairperson of the International Association for Educational assessment (IAEA), Anne Cavalli, who will present the key paper at the seminar, about Oman’s participation in international studies.
It targets more than 100 teachers, educational supervisors, administrators, school principals, members of assessment and supervision from the Ministry of Education and representatives of some government institutions concerned with education, such as the Education Council, the Education Committees of the State Council and Majlis A’Shura, the Ministry of Higher Education and Sultan Qaboos University.
