Muscat: A consultative seminar on the National Qualifications Framework will be held on Tuesday.
The seminar is being organised by the Omani Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA) under the auspices of Dr. Said bin Hamad Al Rubaie, Secretary General of the Education Council.
The two-day seminar aims to consult with all stakeholders from various educational and training sectors in the Sultanate about the first draft of the National Qualifications Framework, which OAAA has recently completed and take their observations into account in preparing the second draft of this framework.
It is worth mentioning that the development and updating of the National Qualifications Framework is one of the main competences of OAAA under the Royal Decree for establishing it. In 2014, the Education Council issued a decision approving the establishment of the National Qualifications Framework by OAAA to cover all types of academic, vocational, professional and school education.
The project includes a review of the current national framework (National Qualifications Framework in the Sultanate of Oman) issued by the previous Accreditation Council in 2005, which is limited to the higher education qualifications and develop it to become a comprehensive framework for different types of qualifications, and when implemented, it will be possible to address the needs of various educational sectors in the Sultanate and to contribute to the achievement of the relevant national objectives.
