Pakistani community in Sohar celebrates 
Independence Day anniversary

Muscat: Sheikh Muhanna bin Saif bin Salim Al Lamki, Governor of North Batinah, was the chief guest at an event organised by Pakistani community to celebrate 70th Independence Day of Pakistan.

A number of dignitaries including a member of Majlis Shura Ali Bin Abdullah Ali bin Badi, Wali of Burami Sheikh Saleh bin Daib bin Saeed Al Rubai, Deputy Wali of Sohar Sheikh Abdul Hakeem, Deputy Wali of Saham Sheikh Hasan Zarafi, Director Generals of Manpower and Majan Electricity Departments, and Colonel Sultan Al Husani and Colonel Ahmad Nasir Al Mamari of the Royal Oman Police were present on the occasion.
Students of the Pakistan School Sohar presented a colourful depiction of sentiments of independence of Pakistan, bilateral friendship and programmes relating to culture of Pakistan and Oman.
The Governor of North Batinah appreciated Pakistani community and praised their immense contribution towards building Oman. Highlighting common features in history and culture of both the countries, Al Lamki observed that consolidation of Pakistani community in Oman is reflective of true and core strength of bilateral relations.
The Ambassador of Pakistan thanked the Pakistani community in Sohar for organising the event. He appreciated the performances by students and spoke about the launch of ‘Young Pakistan Forum Oman (www.ypfo.pk), an online platform to showcase their brilliance and hone their skills into leadership roles, launched in Muscat on August 14.
It was ambassador’s first visit to the city and concluded the stream of countywide celebrations to mark 70th Anniversary of Independence of Pakistan which started in Burami on August 4.
