Hockenheim: Al Faisal Al Zubair concludes his 2017 European racing programme when he takes part in the final two rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany at the famous 4.574km Hockenheim circuit this weekend.
The Omani is tackling this year’s Mobil 1 Porsche Super Cup and also took part in the Nurburgring Sprint rounds of the German series in September to continue his preparations for the final two rounds of his Mobil 1 Porsche Super Cup programme in Mexico City at the end of the month. He had intended to compete in the two rounds at the Sachsenring as well, but illness forced him to withdraw at the 11th hour.
“This is the final round of the Porsche Carrera Cup in Germany, but I have never been to Hockenheim in the Porsche before,” said FZ Racing’s Al Faisal. “I am excited to be taking part in the last two races in Germany. It will be great experience for me. Hopefully this weekend we can get a good result to finish the German Cup on a high. The goal is to learn and learn, so we will see how it goes.”
Heading into the final two races on Saturday and Sunday, Norwegian driver Dennis Olsen holds a 13-point advantage over Nick Yelloly, with Michael Ammermuller a distant third after winning the first of the two recent races at the Sachsenring. Christopher Zochling and Larry Ten Voorde round off the top five.
Al Faisal Al Zubair amassed eight points from his two previous race outings at the Nurburgring Sprint circuit.
Porsche Carrera Cup Germany racing gets underway with one hour of training from 1145hrs (1345hrs Oman time) on Friday morning. This precedes qualifying on Friday afternoon from 1640hrs.
Race one runs for 13 laps and takes centre stage on the circuit from 1125hrs on Saturday morning (October 14) and the final round of the series gets the green light at 0855hrs on Sunday morning (October 15).
