Muscat: As part of its on-going initiatives under ‘Sohar Al Atta’ CSR programme, Bank Sohar recently conducted live demonstrations of its RakizWaSouq road safety campaign at the Ajyal Al Huda Private School in Azaiba and Al Sadiqqa bint Al Saddiq Elementary School in Al Khabourah. The events were held in association with Oman Road Safety Association (ORSA) in line with a series of similar events that the bank is co-hosting in partnership with ORSA targeting schools across Oman for awareness on road safety.
Highlighting the bank’s initiatives towards promoting responsible and safe behaviour on the roads, Munira Abdulnabi Macki, GM – HR and Corporate Support at Bank Sohar, said: “We have been steadfast in our advocacy for road safety. Our RakizWaSouq campaign has witnessed an extensive reach and appeal in effectively driving home the message of responsible driving as well as the importance of abiding by traffic rules. Through this campaign, we aim to spread the message across schools and in other public spheres, often working in partnership with associations such as ORSA to reinforce awareness on the subject.”
During the school visits, Bank Sohar presented it's 12 ‘I Pledge’ videos, which were recently showcased on the bank’s Facebook page through a dedicated contest, and its popular RakizWaSouq jingle to students. Participating children were also engaged in an interactive dialogue and were shown an ORSA presentation on road safety. More exciting activities and competitions followed by a distribution of prizes to the winners.
Bank Sohar holds the distinction of being one of the pioneers for the cause of road safety in the Sultanate’s banking sector, leading numerous awareness drives on the subject in school zones and education institutions. Most unique is its RakizWaSouq campaign which spreads awareness through important road safety tips and its famous jingle. In addition, Bank Sohar has conducted various road shows and activities that have successfully spread awareness on the subject of road safety. The bank has also regularly collaborated with Royal Oman Police, government entities and various associations such as the Oman Road Safety Association (ORSA), to jointly organise and run various events and awareness campaigns across the Sultanate. Moreover, the bank participated during last year in the Oman Road Safety exhibition which was held in the Oman Exhibition Centre. It also participated in the GCC Traffic Week events in Buraimi and AlBatinah North. Because of its consistent efforts, the bank was awarded the ‘Best Public Awareness Campaign Middle East Road Safety’ award in November 2016 for its RakizWaSouq road safety campaign at the IQPC Middle East – Qatar Transport Safety Awards and was honoured by the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) for its contributions towards raising awareness on road safety.
