First-of-its-kind medical conference to be held in Oman soon

Muscat: The Royal Hospital is to run, “A total of 73 scientific sessions,” over the month of February. The Original announcement said, “The Royal Hospital is pleased to announce the 1st Royal Hospital International Conference, which will be held in the Oman Convention and Exhibit Centre, Muscat, 3rd to 5th of February, 2018.

“The main aim of the Conference is to build a network of health professionals interested in promoting a quality health care and professional development which we believe to be of great importance for all health professionals,” added the statement.

On the event’s own website, it was announced that the event, “Aims to attract an audience of 2000 attendees of multidisciplinary specialization of medical and healthcare expertise internationally and from all over Oman.”

The conference will furthermore cover many branches of health care, from “Critical care” and “emergency” to “Urology” and “Microbiology”, said the website. All in all, it listed nineteen disciplines, including training and education.

A schedule of the event said it will be kicked off by Dr. Jose Chacko, who will speak about, “Ultrasound guided management of shocked patients in ICU,” as part of the Critical Care aspect of the conference, among other sessions, as these will run parallel to one another.

Dr. Qasem Bin Ahmed Al Salmi, Director General of the Royal Hospital, said the international conference will include, “Several simultaneous sessions running in parallel at the same venue – the prestigious Oman Exhibition and Convention Centre.

“This combined effort will obviate the need for each specialty to host a conference or workshop during the year and is likely to prove more efficient in terms of logistic arrangements,” he added.
The main organising committee consists of twelve medical professionals from various practical and training departments, and is headed by Dr. Bassim al Bahrani.
