Bank Sohar honoured by Ministry of Social Development

Muscat: Recognising Bank Sohar’s outstanding portfolio of social activities, the Ministry of Social Development recently recognised the bank’s support of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) across the nation in an event held under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Taimur bin Asaad Al Said at the Sundus Rotana Hotel in Muscat.
Representing and receiving the token of appreciation on behalf of Bank Sohar at the event was Mazin Mahmood Al Raisi, Senior AGM- Marketing and Customer Experience.
During the event, the Ministry of Social Development signed four agreements for the construction of the National Autism Centre in Muscat, Juvenile Rehabilitation Centre in Muscat, Al Wafa Centre for the Rehabilitation of Disabled Children in Dama Wa Taeen and finally provision of prosthetic devices. The event concluded with the ministry honouring 32 private sector organisations including Bank Sohar for their on-going support of the ministry’s social responsibility activities.
On receiving this recognition, Sasi Kumar, Acting CEO, Bank Sohar commented, “We commend the various NGOs that we have partnered with in the past eleven years to serve various social causes and encourage positive change in the community and look forward to exploring the potential for future collaboration. Over the years, Bank Sohar has supported over 30 organisations numerous times around the Sultanate under its social responsibility programme – ‘Sohar AlAtaa’, striving to ensure that its contributions are carefully planned and evaluated in order to diversify and reach the maximum number of people - especially those in most need of it - offering recipients positive support and making meaningful positive change.
Bank Sohar has received a tranche of awards to-date for a range of its CSR initiatives delivered on an international scale. Recent acquisitions observed the bank’s receipt of the Royal Oman Police’s Road Safety Award 2017, where the bank took first place within the private sector category for a campaign in association with Oman Road Safety Association. Other recent acknowledgements include the bank’s fourth accolade from the Arab Organization for Social Responsibility in the United Arab Emirates, notably the Golden Order of Merit in the Field of CSR award.
