Haya Water launches accident management app

Muscat: In order to continuously develop and introduce smart solutions, the Quality, Health, Occupational Safety and Environment Department (QHSE) announces the introduction of the INTELEX application.
INTELEX is a global programme for the management of the safety system in organisations. It has several components including Accident Management System, Risk Assessment System, Statistics and Indicators of Incident Reporting, Audit and Reporting System, Legal Requirements, Civil Defense License and Certificates Tracking System and the application can be easily managed by smartphones or websites.
Khalid bin Said Al Wahaibi, manager of Occupational Health and Safety in Haya Water said, "The use of such smart applications nowadays is necessary to keep abreast of the technological development and to employ it effectively, which in return will facilitate the management of accidents and safety in the working environment and raise efficiency, in general.
Al Wahaibi emphasised that this application will reduce the time required for the delivery of incident-related reports and investigation procedures bearing in mind that the company manages various operations in all governorates of Oman except Dhofar.
He added, "This technology will significantly and directly contribute to raising the awareness about the occupational safety requirements among Haya Water employees and its contractors and it will serve as a source of information for continuous development and reduction of work accidents."
The team is also working on the implementation and execution of additional features expected to be added during the year, including the implementation of the audit process and periodic reports through a special application in smartphones.
Al Wahiabi concluded, "In Haya Water, occupational safety is one of the most important pillars in the operation of its STPs and networks and in existing and new construction projects. In fact, 68 courses were conducted and attended by 441 trainees with 4,037 training hours during the year of 2017. These courses aimed to increase the efficiency of staff when carrying out various activities with a high level of safety.
It is worth mentioning that during the month of September of 2017, Haya Water and its contractors achieved more than 16 million hours of safe work without any Lost Time Incident (LTI).
