Muscat: Many companies in the building, construction and interior design sectors have confirmed that the current slowdown in the market has not affected their business so far.
“Current economic challenges have not affected our business so far, our business is going as good as before,” Nader K Hassan of Trevira told the Times of Oman (TOO) on the sidelines the Big Show exhibition at the Oman Exhibition centre.

“We are here in the local market for some time and we haven’t faced any drawback in our business so far,” he added.
Ratheesan E K of Al Rokn Al Khamis Trading & Co. also agreed with the other exhibitors.
“We deal with PVC doors and windows and such other items; so far we haven’t seen any decline in our business because of the dullness in the market,” he asserted.
“So far, we are not having any issues in the market; I hope it will continue as the same,” another attendee asserted.
Some of the exhibitors also said there is a slight impact on their business due to the current challenges in the market.
“Overall, there is a slight impact on the business,” Haroon Rasheed of Reema Building Materials LLC said.
“But we see some good fortune in the coming months,” he added.
“There is a slight drop in our dealings but it has not had that big an affect our organisation and I think soon it will be back on track,” another exhibitor told TOO.
According to another attendee, the dullness in the market may slow down their projects.
“It may delay our projects, but we find that people are thinking of a long-term process, especially people in the Middle East; this is a short term impact so the effect will not go on for long,” he added.
According to the exhibitors they are receiving good response from the visitors.
“We are getting good feedback from the visitors; people are very keen to know about the products and new trends in the market,” Ravikumar Thekkat of Panasonic said.
Panasonic is introducing new kind of switches and electronics items in the exhibition.
“Some of them (Visitors) are ready to talk business and even to sign contracts,” another attendee asserted.
Dr. Rasheed bin Al Safi Al Huraibi, chairman of the Tender Board, officially opened the 13th edition of Oman’s landmark building, construction and interior design event, The BIG Show (Builders International Gathering) on Monday.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by several ambassadors to the Sultanate and officials from the government.
Visitors will be treated to Italian kitchen and bath systems, pool and spa systems, wood solutions, among 1,000 other products, from 250 local and international companies representing 15 countries.
According to the organisers, the exhibition has maintained 15 per cent growth in terms of exhibitor participation and sold exhibition space.
The four-day exhibition will end on March 31. The exhibition hours are from 4 pm to 10 pm.
