Muscat: His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers on Tuesday received Sheikh Dr Ahmed Badr Eddin Hassoun, Chairman of the Supreme Ifta'a Council in the Syrian Arab Republic who is currently visiting the Sultanate. Hassoun expressed his greetings and good wishes of success to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and for the Omani people further progress and prosperity.
After welcoming the guest, Sayyid Fahd highlighted the care accorded by the Sultanate, under the leadership of His Majesty to support all efforts made to establish stability on the Syrian land as this will benefit all sectors of the brotherly Syrian people.
During the meeting, they reviewed the role of Muslim scholars in clarifying the true picture of Islam and its mission related to enhancing brotherhood among human communities. They stressed the importance of dialogue and understanding with all cultures and creeds to reach a world where noble value prevail and where violence is discarded and where everyone enjoys peace and security. The meeting also reviewed the latest regional developments.
Sheikh Dr Ahmed Badr Eddin Hassoun expressed his appreciation for the Sultanate under the leadership of His Majesty and the positive role it plays for the Arab and Islamic issues, as well as its honourable its stances that support security and stability for Syria and its people.
He hailed the moderation approach pursued by the Sultanate in addressing all issues, which earned it the respect of everyone.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalili, Grand Mufti of the Sultanate and Farouq Mahmoud Qaddor, accredited Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to the Sultanate. — ONA
