Oman crime: 445 workers found violating Labour Law

Muscat: Number of workers found violating the Labour Law between March 27 and April 2 stood at 445 according to the weekly report of the joint inspection team at the Ministry of Manpower.
This number included 371 commercial workers, 39 farm workers and 35 housemaids or equivalents. Absconding workers number was 140, while 254 were astray workers and (23) workers with other violations.
North Al Batinah governorate accounted for the largest number of workers found violating the law with 168, followed by the Muscat with 115. The competent authorities at the Ministry of Manpower have initiated legal procedures against them.
Meanwhile, Manpower Ministry statistics showed that 193 expatriate workers were deported for violating provisions of the Labour Law and ministerial decisions executing the law. -ONA
