Oman Majlis Al Shura praises decision to ban tobacco product advertisemsnts

Muscat: Majlis Al Shura’s Health and Environmental Committee today held its 11thmeeting of the 1st annual sitting (2015-2016) of the 8th term, headed by Ali bin Khalfan Al Qutaiti, Head of the committee.
The meeting discussed the statement of the Minister of Health, which will be delivered on the 14th and 15th regular sessions of Majlis Al Shura on April 27th-28th.
The meeting dealt with a number of enquiries and opinions that will be forwarded by the committee in the next two sessions, including those related to the themes of the statement, which includes a number of topics, including health plans, strategies, and public health, as well as health and treatment services, as well as the human and technical resources and infrastructure, the private health sector health, health education and rehabilitation, as well as treatment abroad.
The meeting praised the decision No. 42/2016 taken by Dr. Abdul Munim bin Mansour Al Hasani, Minister of Information about adding new article to the executive regulation of the Press and Publications Law on banning advertisements of tobacco products or its derivatives in all the media means.
The meeting discussed a draft amendment to the Law on Conservation of the Environment and Prevention of Pollution. The meeting reviewed the final report and recommendations of the seminar on autistic spectrum disorder.
