10 of the highest traffic fines you could end up paying in Oman

Muscat: There are 10 traffic-related offences that could cost motorists up to OMR500 altogether, a quick look at the Royal Oman Police app reveals.
The offences, which range from drifting to ignoring a red light, carry stiff penalties to help deter dangerous driving.
According to the app, the following violations will see motorists fined OMR50:
- Using a forged number plate
- Driving a foreign vehicle after the visit period is expired
- Driving a vehicle without having a driving licence
- Adding or changing fuel tanks with those unspecificed by manufacturer
- Driving a vehicle with no or expired insurance
Additionally, there are a number of offences that will result in OMR50 fines and add 'black points' to a licence. They include:
- A driver fleeing the scene of a fatal accident: 3 points, OMR50
- Providing false information or documents: 4 points, OMR50
- Ignoring a red light: 3 points, OMR50
- Driving under the influence: 3 points, OMR50
- Exceeding the speed limit by more than 75km: 3 points, OMR50
Those 10 offenses alone could cost drivers up to OMR500 as well as lead the suspension of their license.
