ROP conducts six rescue operations after flash floods

Muscat: Royal Oman Police (ROP) conducted six rescue operations from flooded wadis and vehicles as rain lashed many parts of the Sultanate.

Four people were rescued and airlifted from wadi bani Khalid to Ibra Referral Hospital.

Six people were rescued in wadi Sroor of the Wilayat of Samayil as well three people who were trapped in wadi Al Auq.

According to ROP, the rescued were all in a stable health condition.

One person was rescued by police aviation after he fell from a wadi in Seeq area of the wilayat of Kamal and Wfi.

A spokesperson from the ROP said, “Police used night vision goggles (NVG) for the first time, which facilitated 75 percent of the search, rescue, ambulance, patrol and other night operations.

Police recommend caution and risk

Due to the continued effects of the depression, the ROP advises everyone to exercise extreme caution and not to venture into wadis and to stay away from places and slopes prone to flooding.
