Muscat: A new section of the Adam-Thumrait road that links Muscat to Salalah will be opened this Wednesday.
Oman’s Ministry of Transport and Communications has said that 140 kilometres of a fresh stretch of the road will be opened to motorists.
The ministry had previously opened 221 km of the road to traffic and this new section will mean the finished length of the dual carriageway so far will be 361 km out of a total length of 717.5 km.
The Adam-Thumrait highway is considered one of the major strategic projects implemented by the government before the start of the 2019 Khareef season.
The project will upgrade the existing road to Salalah to a dual carriageway and, it is hoped, will reduce traffic accidents.
