Four arrested on drug-related charges in Oman

Muscat: Two Asian expats in Oman have been arrested on drug-related charges, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) has announced.

Officials said that the expats were arrested for possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking and abuse.

“The Directorate General for the Control of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances arrested two expats of Asian nationality, on charges of possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking and abuse,” ROP said in a statement online.

Similarly, two citizens have been arrested for peddling narcotics.

Police recovered large quantities of marijuana from their possession.

The accused have been referred to judicial authorities for further investigation.

The Royal Oman Police called upon citizens and residents to co-operate in combating the drug scourge and to give police any information that helps in the detection of drug smugglers and traffickers by calling 9999 or the toll-free number of the General Directorate for Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances (1444) or by going to the nearest police station.
