Muscat: Delegated by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said led the Sultanate’s delegation in the deliberations of the GCC and Arab emergency summits and the 14th Islamic Summit in Makkah on Saturday.
The 14th Islamic Summit discussed developments in the region, the Palestinian issue, the fight against terrorism, and the relations among Islamic countries, to safeguard peace and security and achieve stability and prosperity among the member states in the spirit of Islam.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, met with Sayyid Shihab, and other leaders of the Islamic countries ahead of the start of the summit.
Sayyid Shihab was accompanied by an official delegation comprising Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Said Al Kalbani, Minister of Social Development, Dr. Sayyid Ahmed bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Sultanate’s ambassador, Dr. Ali bin Ahmed Al Issa’ee, Sultanate’s ambassador to Egypt, its Permanent Delegate to the Arab League, Mohammed bin Nasser Al Wahibi, Head of the GCC Department at the Foreign Ministry, Sheikh Salim bin Suhail Al Ma’ashani, Head of International Organisations Department at the Foreign Ministry and some senior officials.
