Muscat: Beach entertainment will have a whole new meaning in Oman as Muscat Hills Resort gears up to develop matchless facilities in a short span of time.
From water villas to Maldives-style beach chalets, and a beach club where 400 people can party, a food and beverage outlet, nine hole golf course, tennis court, boating, swimming, diving etc, will all be a part of attractions that the new resort will be offering.

The resort at Oman Dive Centre is all set to provide wholesome entertainment to the people and plans to invite even international DJs to perform on its beach facility.
Speaking exclusively to Times of Oman, Chairman and CEO of Muscat Hills Group, His Highness Sayyid Al Rawy Kais Al Said, stated, “We are actually trying to develop Muscat Hills Resort as a tourism and hospitality spot offering various activities in one location, like golf course, water sports and F&B services. In future we are going to add recreation facilities like the gyms, tennis courts and much more to complement the whole resort so that there is fun for everyone in the family.”
Explaining the details, he announced that the first phase of the project will have a soft opening soon after Ramadan.
“The F&B outlet will have a soft opening in July while the grand launch has been planned for October. The construction work for the nine-hole golf course will begin next month and completed in about a year’s time,” he said.
Muscat Hills Golf and Country Club, Director of Golf, Ray Stopforth, said that the Muscat Hills Resort will feature a new nine-hole, par 3 golf course which can be enjoyed by all who visit the resort.
“The construction of the golf course is planned to start in June/July this year,” he said.
“The 9-hole, par 3 golf course will be constructed in the basin of the main water outlet which leads into the sea at the entrance of the resort. The combination of manicured fairways and greens and water is what the view will be seen from the surrounding roads, as the golf course is designed around a water canal with an island green as a feature to get most players excited. The golf course will definitely soften the approach to Muscat Hills Resort and will also be aesthetically pleasing to the eye, the resort will be poised to offer outdoor lifestyle patrons activities for everyone from boating, swimming, scuba diving and now golf in the short form of the game,” he said.
Anwar Al Khanjari, Group Director, Human Resources and Administration, Muscat Hills said that they have already hired 40 staff and the resort will have around 300 people when the entire project is complete. “Once ready it will attract tourists from all over the world,” he said.
Ismael Nunez Herrera, the F&B Manager, who has been recently hired from Spain, said that they will be serving Mediterranean and Arabic style food in the beach club restaurant.
“The beach club concept doesn’t exist in Oman where people can enjoy their food inside or outside the restaurant.
“Around 150 people can sit inside the restaurant while 400 guests can be accommodated outside, right on the beach,” he said.
The place will also host weddings, receptions and corporate meetings.
Regarding the hotel, His Highness Sayyid Al Rawy Kais Al Said explained that they were planning a mix of water villas and beach side residences, which don’t exist in Oman. “A certain percentage of the villas will be on water and the rest on the beach. This is just a plan and we have to get approvals from all quarters before beginning the construction,” he said.
Responding to a question, Muscat Hills Chairman said he felt proud to be involved and contributing to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said’s vision about tourism development in Oman.
Earlier, Times of Oman had revealed how the site had been rebranded as the Muscat Hills Dive Centre after years of identity as ODC. The dive centre has long been a popular spot for tourists and Muscat residents.
