Wash your hands, avoid contact with people suffering from flu

Muscat: Dr Mohammed bin Saif Al Hosni, Undersecretary of Ministry of Health for Health Affairs, has advised people in the Sultanate to maintain good hygiene, wear masks and avoid contact with people suffering from cold, cough and fever.
The undersecretary has called upon all citizens and residents in the Sultanate to follow the preventive measures. It includes washing hands with water and soap, sterilising hands and wearing a face mask, avoiding direct contact with the people suffering from cold, cough and fever so as to avoid being infected.
Al Hosni has also advised people having any respiratory symptoms to go directly to the nearest health institution for consultation and treatment. He has suggested that people should visit the health institutions while wearing a mask, as well as adhering to the home quarantine procedures and not hang out in crowded places during the current period.
The undersecretary has urged all citizens and residents to take the information from the official sources, not pay attention to the rumours and get in touch with the Contact Centre of the Ministry for further information. Recently, Al Hosni had a meeting with all the undersecretaries of Ministries of Health of the GCC states to discuss coronavirus (COVID-19) related developments via a video conference.
The meeting reviewed the mechanism of exchanging the precautionary and preventive measures to reduce the spread of the disease.
It also reviewed the future plan to tackle this virus, the procedures that are enforced in the points of entry, the statistics related to the virus, the preparedness of the health sector, media and emergency plans, community awareness programs and the role of the Health Council in this regard.
In addition to that, formation of joint operation rooms, conducting weekly meetings at the Undersecretary level in order to continuously discuss and monitor the COVID-19 latest developments, as well as the coordination process in making the joint decisions were also discussed.
The undersecretaries have urged all GCC citizens and residents to implement the infection control standards, avoid attending the gatherings as much as possible, and adhere to the preventive safety measures.
