Manpower Ministry specialists share information on Omani higher education

Muscat: Education and Research Committee at the State Council hosted specialists on Tuesday to get inputs to add value to their ongoing study entitled, “Review of duplication in programme discipline in Higher Education.”
The meeting was led by Dr. Abdullah bin Mubarak Al Shanfri, the head of the Committee, in the presence of Committee members and Secretariat staff.
The Committee hosted Sheikh Mohammed Ghalib Ali Al Hinai, advisor (Human Resource Planning) at the Ministry of Manpower and Dr. Abdul Hakim bin Hilal Al Ismaili, director general of Technical Education and Vocational Training, Ministry of Manpower to discuss a range of important topics related to the study.
The discussions included a mechanism of programmes at special education institutions, the class size and compatibility between private higher education institutions, with government higher education institutions in this regard, the features of different disciplines and preparing students for it.
The meeting also addressed reports and studies related to the launch of programmes, the various mechanisms adopted, the needs of the job market, the challenges facing private education institutions in this regard and the proposals to be developed to counter this.
The panel also viewed a detailed visual presentation made by Al Ismaili, which enumerated the criteria put forward for technical programmes, qualifications and programmes and disciplinary mechanisms, admission of students to colleges, infrastructure, human resources, quality of education, relations with international institutions of higher education and challenges in this regard.
