Coronavirus: Group arrested in Oman for violating rules

Muscat: The police stopped a group of people in the Al Batinah North Governorate, on charges of gathering and exercising, in violation of orders.

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) said in a statement: "Royal Oman Police Command in the Al Batinah North Governorate arrested a group of people on charges of gathering and practicing sports, in violation of the decisions of the Supreme Committee to deal with the coronavirus."

"The people were referred to the judicial authorities to take legal action against them," ROP added.

The police called on everyone to cooperate, stop gatherings, team sports activities and apply social divergence measures for the public good, and to cooperate with the various bodies involved in containing the COVID-19 pandemic.
