Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Oman's share index ends marginally higher

The MSM30 index closed at 3,524.85 points, up 0.04 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended lower by 0.07 per cent at 517.60 points. Al Hassan Engineering, up 6.25 per cent was the top gainer while Al Suwadi Power, down 5.26 per cent was the top loser. Al Anwar Holding was the most active in terms of number of shares traded while Oman Flour was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 366 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR1.4 million, with more than 6.9 million shares changing hands. Out of 35 traded stocks, 8 advanced, 8 declined and 19 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR385,000 while local investors were net buyers for OMR356,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR29,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,589.70 points, up 0.30 per cent. Sohar International Bank, Al Omaniya Financial, Al Anwar Holding, Bank Muscat and National Bank of Oman were up by 2.44 per cent, 1.32 per cent, 1.32 per cent, 1.20 per cent and 0.63 per cent respectively. Oman United Insurance and Bank Nizwa were down by 1.17 per cent and 1.04 per cent.
Industrial Index closed at 4,063.01 points, down 0.41 per cent. Al Hassan Engineering and Al Anwar Ceramic were up by 6.25 per cent and 0.75 per cent. Galfar engineering, Raysut Cement and Oman Flour mills were down by 3.85 per cent, 1.70 per cent and 0.99 per cent respectively.
Services index was down 0.50 per cent before closing at 1,583.80 points. Al Jazeera Service was up by 1.89 per cent. Al Suwadi Power, Renaissance Service and Al Batinah Power were down by 5.25 per cent, 2.84 per cent and 1.85 per cent respectively.
