Ministry of Transport issues guidelines for marinas, boat operations

Muscat: Ministry of Transport has issued guidelines for the operation of marinas, pleasure boats and tourism boats.

A statement issued online by Ministry of Transport said, "Pursuant to the latest decisions of the Supreme Committee to deal with COVID-19 pandemic, the restrictions for operations of marinas, pleasure and tourism boats have been lowered and they can operate under following measures, in addition to the general preventive measures specified by the Ministry of Health. Number of passengers (including crew) onboard pleasure and tourism boats /crafts shall not exceed 50% of the nominated capacity."

The Ministry also said, "Passengers on board tourism boats shall be from the same family (household) and wear a face mask. In public areas of the marinas, users shall wear a face mask, maintain physical distancing and avoid gathering. Marina's administration shall provide hand sanitizers in the public areas."

'Marina's administration shall monitor the conditions mentioned above, specifically No.1 and No.2 and will report any violations against them to the Directorate General of Maritime Affairs(DGMA)" the statement added
