Muscat: For the first time since the pandemic came to Oman, 200 COVID-19 patients have been admitted in ICUs in the country.
Figures released by the Ministry of Health show that 63 new admissions were made in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of patients in the ICU to 200.
On Thursday, 24 September, expressing concern over 190 patients being present in intensive care units, Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health, and member of the Supreme Committee on COVID-19, said this was a record which had not been seen in the past.
But the rising numbers do not mean that the health institutions have failed in their duty, cases are rising all over the world, overburdening the health sector, he said.
Oman has altogether recorded 97,450 cases of COVID-19, with recoveries standing at 87,801, and 909 deaths.
