Oman calls for equitable distribution of resources to combat COVID-19

Muscat: The Sultanate calls for equitable distribution of resources needed to combat the Coronavirus pandemic, in its speech during the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister said: "The new Corona pandemic has imposed major changes on our daily life, but no matter how difficult the challenges are, we must actually adapt to the new ways of life and remain optimistic about the future, envisaging the best methods and practices in our cooperation and achieving the common goals of our countries and peoples."

"In the same context, the international community has a humanitarian duty to ensure the equitable distribution of materials needed to combat the pandemic, especially to secure vaccines to less developed regions that suffer from limited medical facilities and capabilities."

He added: "The Corona pandemic has produced thorny economic challenges, and in this regard, we call on donor countries and institutions to do what they can to facilitate the process of debt restructuring and provide special attention to help the most affected countries in a way that encourages the acceleration and flow of the economy and stimulates growth."
