Advisory issued to animal breeders in Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries has issued a notice for animal breeders ahead of Eid Al-Adha.

A statement issued online by the ministry said, "The ministry would like to alert all breeders not to give animals prepared for slaughter any veterinary preparations, especially antibiotics, except with the knowledge of the veterinarian. This is due to the time it takes for disposal of these products from the body."

"Failure to adhere to this period has many damages, the most important of which are: the emergence of the phenomenon of bacterial resistance to antibiotics and its impact on meat quality and animal health, " the statement added.
