Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,780.25 points, up 0.22 per cent from the previous close.
The Sharia Index ended down 0.40 per cent at 522.66 points. Oman & Emirates Investment Holding, up 2.08 per cent was the top gainer while Oman Flour Mills, down 4.50 per cent, was the top loser. Bank was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Oman Development Bond 57 issue was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 402 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR4.31 million, with more than 6.16 million shares changing hands. Out of 41 traded stocks, 9 advanced, 10 declined and 22 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR272,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR166,000 followed by local investors for OMR106,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed by 0.19 per cent at, 6,137.92 points. Oman & Emirates Investment Holding, HSBC Bank Oman, and Bank Nizwa were up by 2.08 per cent, 2.04 per cent, and 0.99 per cent respectively. Gulf Investment Services Holding, Al Sharqia Investment Holding, Al Omaniya Financial Services, and Oman United Insurance were down by 1.43 per cent, 1.41 per cent, 1.27 per cent, and 0.51 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,982.71 points, down 0.45 per cent. Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles and Al Maha Ceramics were up by 1.28 per cent and 0.48 per cent respectively. Oman Flour Mills, Galfar Engineering, National Aluminium Products, and Al Jazeera Steel Products were down by 4.5 per cent, 1.89 per cent, 1.77 per cent, and 1.03 per cent respectively.
Services index was up 0.08% before closing at 1,580.27 points. Al Suwadi Power, Al Maha Petroleum Products, Omantel, and Ooredoo Oman were up by 1.82 per cent, 0.67 per cent, 0.65 per cent, and 0.5 per cent respectively. SMN Power Holding and Al Jazeera Services were down by 2.7 per cent and 2.33 per cent respectively.
