Muscat: There has been an increase of 6.1 per cent in the number of schools in the 2019/2020 academic year, and an increase of 4.8 per cent in the number of students enrolled in the Sultanate's schools.
A statement issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information, (NCSI), said: “The total number of schools in the Sultanate reached 2,046 for the 2019/2020 academic year, an increase of 6.1 per cent compared to the 2018/2019 academic year. It contained 31,812 classes.
“ 71,469 is the total number of teachers in the Sultanate's schools and 843,598 is the total number of students, up 4.8 per cent compared to the academic year 2018/2019. An average of 27 students for each class,” the statement added.
