Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,706.36 points, down 0.01 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down 0.43 per cent at 519.02 points.
Al Batinah Power, up 1.85 per cent was the top gainer while Al Jazeera Service, down 2.89 per cent, was the top loser. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and also was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 258 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR0.4 million, with more than 4.6 million shares changing hands. Out of 33 traded stocks, 5 advanced, 9 declined and 19 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR49,000 while GCC 7 Arab investors were net buyers for OMR43,000 followed by local for OMR6,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed by 0.06 per cent at, 6,015.66 points. Bank Muscat and Ominvest were up by 1.03 per cent and 0.61 per cent respectively. Oman & Emirates Investment and Oman United Insurance were down by 2.08 per cent and 1.02 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,974.79 points, down 0.26 per cent. Al Jazeera Steel and Oman Cement were up by 1.08 per cent and 0.88 per cent respectively. Al Maha Ceramics, Galfar Engineering and Al Anwar Ceramic were down by 2.87 per cent, 1.92 per cent and 1.88 per cent respectively.
Services index was down 0.33 per cent before closing at 1,566.81 points. Al Batinah Power was up by 1.85 per cent. Al Jazeera Service and Renaissance Service were up by 2.89 per cent and 0.60 per cent respectively.
