Public servants in Oman to face jail term for embezzlement

Muscat: Five years imprisonment and a fine equivalent to the misappropriated amount is the punishment for misappropriation of public money by a public servant, Public Prosecution (PP) said.

A statement issued online by PP said: "Dear citizens and residents, misappropriation of public money by a public servant or facilitating handing over the same to a third party is an offense punishable by imprisonment for five years and a fine equivalent to the misappropriated amount in addition to removal from office and denial of future postings indefinitely."
