Muscat: More than 2,000 job seekers have been replaced in teaching jobs that were occupied by expats, the Ministry of Labour said on Sunday.
A statement issued online by the Ministry of Labour said:” The ministry in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, is implementing a plan to replace teaching jobs for 2,469 during the first phase, distributed over 1,455 for males and 1,014 for females.”
This comes within the framework of replacing the permanent jobs currently occupied by non-Omanis with citizens of teaching specialties who have a university education or university qualification in addition to a diploma in educational qualification.
Other preparations of applicants who pass the specific tests will also be absorbed through the new financial grades that will be developed according to the available capabilities.
The plan to replace teaching jobs in a number of disciplines includes Islamic education, Arabic language, French language, life skills, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology, geography, history, information technology, plastic arts, musical skills, school sport, first field, second field, special education, special education (science), special education (Islamic education), special education (Arabic language), special education (English language), special education (mathematics).
The Ministry cooperates with six government agencies, including the Ministry of Education, within the framework of the ministry’s efforts to provide job opportunities for job seekers, as a training project associated with replacement is being implemented, which aims to replace occupied jobs with expatriates in various government units, by training and qualifying job seekers to replace them on the jobs occupied by the expatriate workforce in the public sector, noting that the Ministry announced in its plan for 2021 to provide more than 4,000 job opportunities in the public sector, as the Ministry of Education absorbs 2,469 jobs and 830 jobs in the Ministry of Health.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Innovation absorbs 115 jobs and 65 jobs in the municipal sector, while the University of Technology and Applied Sciences absorbs 92 jobs.
The ministry is following up on this plan through the committee running the work of the training project associated with the replacement, noting that the role that the Ministry of Labour plays in addition to what has been explained above in terms of contributing to the preparation and implementation of replacement plans, the Ministry also provides support for training requirements according to what is specified in those Plans, whether on the job, coupled with replacement or specialist, according to the type of jobs targeted for replacement.
