‘Oman’s policy wise, balanced’
Muscat: Tunisian ambassador accredited to the Sultanate, Azzedine El Tayse described the Sultanate’s policy, under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, as wise and balanced.
He said in a speech to Oman News Agency on the occasion of the Independence Day anniversary of the Tunisian Republic that “His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik supports efforts for enhancement of the bilateral relations between the two countries, mainly in the economic front.”
He pointed to the possibility of launching direct flights and sea voyages between the two countries as a number of Omani products are favoured in Tunisia, and vice versa.
He also valued the response received from Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in terms of support of the economic relations and businessmen in both the countries.
He said that the exhibitions organised between the two countries have contributed to showcasing the products of the two countries, however, the current developments of COVID 19, have restricted organising such exhibitions.
The deep-rooted relations between the two countries has seen further developments since late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said assumed power in the Sultanate, when a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding were entered by and between the two countries, he said.
He also pointed to the visit of Tunisian president Kais Saied, which was the first visit the president made abroad, to offer condolences and sympathy on the death of late His Majesty the Sultan.
On the conclusion of his speech, the ambassador expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Government of Oman, under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, for the continued care and hospitality accorded to the Tunisian community in the Sultanate.
